Job Description

One Acre Fund is growing quickly, and to support this growth, we are always welcoming new staff on the team.

The Global HR team plays a major role in ensuring compliance with statutory requirements in each of our countries of operation.

This position offers the successful candidate a strong career opportunity to be part of a growing HR team that helps support over 300+ international staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with external immigration stakeholders, such as government Immigration personnel alongside the Government Relations team, both in-person and remotely
  • Support the Global HR team in strengthening internal One Acre Fund compliance to Immigration and taxation rules through long-term initiatives and short-term projects
  • Manage complex immigration matters, including coordinating appeals to rejections/deferrals by understanding and articulating the process, gathering/creating all required documents, and chasing points of contact for formal communication on the outcome; proactively communicate progress updates on applications and appeals to relevant internal stakeholders and the Government Relations team
  • Draft and deliver reports and strategies for internal and external use
  • Ability to travel at short notice to other One Acre Fund countries and work remotely for 2-4 weeks at a time, for up to 12 weeks per year
  • Assist the Deputy HR Administrative Coordinator/Assistant with routine immigration matters as well as regular and persistent
  • follow up with service providers, and support One Acre Fund staff with immigration processes and providing regular updates
  • Provide cover for your team when other members are on leave
  • Other HR services as needed

    Qualifications

  • We are seeking an exceptional professional with 2-5 years of work experience and ideally a demonstrated passion for our mission.

    Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Should have 2-5 years’ strong work experience, preferably in a HR role
  • Previous immigration and work authorization experience preferred
  • Strong educational background. Must have a university degree
  • Demonstrated leadership experience at work, or outside of work, enthusiasm for learning, and openness to feedback.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
  • Must be willing to travel; as such, must also have a valid passport
  • Ability to build teams and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Other important skills required for this role: organized; attention to detail; ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision; strong writing skills; willingness to learn fast

    Other desired skills:

  • openness to feedback/criticism; professional communication
  • Language: English required, working proficiency in French is a plus
