One Acre Fund Legal Intern Jobs in Malawi ; This role supports the People Operations team by conducting legal research, ensuring HR compliance, and managing documentation. It also collaborates with the case investigation team to audit and maintain the legal integrity of the disciplinary case management system.

Responsibilities

Legal and Compliance

Conduct legal and compliance gap analyses to identify labor legislation or policy advocacy opportunities.

Coordinate with HR Lead to incorporate new opportunities into the policy pipeline.

Provide legal advice and analysis to ensure compliance with labor laws.

Collaborate with the global legal team in reviewing high-value contracts and advise on compliance with Malawian regulations.

Investigations

Coordinate investigations with the C&I team for fraud or misconduct incidents.

Gain fluency in investigation plans and conduct interviews as needed.

Provide advice on HR policies and disciplinary actions.

Lead hearing panels and maintain proper documentation for investigations.

Litigation Management

Support One Acre Fund in managing litigation.

Partner with external counsel and lawyers in handling court cases.

Follow up on hearing schedules and represent One Acre Fund at police stations or courts when required.

Weekly check-ins with manager, mentorship and training programs.

Regular feedback and career reviews every 1–3 months.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Laws (Honours).

Strong legal background with ability to manage medium- to high-risk cases.

Over 1 year of experience in legal, investigative, or audit fields.

Experience drafting, reviewing, or analyzing legal documents (contracts, policies, handbooks).

Knowledge of Malawi employment law and disciplinary practices.

Excellent communication skills in English and Chichewa.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Google Suite an added advantage.
