One Acre Fund Ethiopia Senior Tree Expansion Research Officer Jobs in Ethiopia;Support Ethiopia Trees Program expansion through desk research, primary data gathering, field verification scouting and evidence generation. Synthesize geographic, agricultural, environmental, market and stakeholder information to guide strategic expansion decisions and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

Data Collection & Research

Conduct desk research to identify potential expansion areas.

Collect and analyze agricultural, environmental, demographic and market data.

Review secondary data from government and partners.

Monitor trends to identify opportunities and risks.

Develop and maintain databases and trackers.

Verify, clean and analyze research data.

Support development of assessment tools and methodologies.

Field & Stakeholder Verification

Participate in field scouting visits.

Engage with government, partners and stakeholders to verify data.

Assess agroforestry suitability, land, water, market potential and risks.

Identify data gaps and coordinate validation.

Integrate field observations with secondary data.

Reporting & Collaboration

Prepare evidence‑based assessment reports and recommendations.

Present findings to teams and stakeholders.

Collaborate with expansion and technical teams to translate research into plans.

Document findings, assumptions and recommendations.

Stakeholder Engagement

Support engagement with government, communities and partners.

Coordinate consultations and validation activities.

Identify collaboration opportunities to strengthen expansion.

Prepare reports, presentations and updates for stakeholders.

Document lessons learned and feedback.

Track activities and maintain accurate documentation.

Support recruitment of field staff.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Preferred backgrounds: Forestry, Agroforestry, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Geography, Rural Development, Watershed Management.

Experience

2+ years in forestry, agroforestry, agriculture, natural resource management or related fields.

Experience in research, data collection, expansion or market assessments.

Experience working with government, partners or communities.

Field assessment experience an advantage.

Willingness to travel to rural/remote areas.

Skills

Strong analytical and research skills.

Excellent data gathering and report writing.

Ability to synthesize complex information.

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication.

Excellent organisational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Experience with digital data tools an advantage.

Languages

English (required).

Amharic (fluent).

Afaan Oromo (preferred).
