One Acre Fund Commercial Strategy Lead – High Value Crops Jobs in Kenya
Job Summary
Lead strategic, cross-functional initiatives that support High Value Crops (HVC) and Potato portfolio growth while advancing farmer impact and commercial sustainability.
Translate long-term strategic priorities into executable projects, scalable solutions and measurable business outcomes across agricultural value chains.
Drive portfolio performance, stakeholder alignment, commercial analysis and operational execution to support organizational growth and impact objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Project Leadership
Lead and execute strategic projects supporting High Value Crops and Potato strategies.
Translate strategic priorities into structured implementation plans, timelines, milestones and accountability frameworks.
Manage key HVC workstreams through established Stage-Gate project management processes.
Identify strategic opportunities, risks and intervention priorities that support organizational growth and farmer impact.
Ensure successful execution of initiatives from concept development through implementation and scale-up.
Commercial Analysis & Business Insights
Lead planning, forecasting and performance analysis across priority HVC value chains.
Analyze farmer performance, market trends, pricing dynamics, supply conditions and operational data.
Generate actionable business insights that support evidence-based decision-making.
Develop business cases for product diversification, commercial partnerships and margin improvement opportunities.
Assess investment opportunities and recommend strategic actions based on commercial viability and impact potential.
Support portfolio prioritization and resource allocation decisions.
Cross-Functional Project Coordination
Coordinate cross-functional teams across Agronomy, Supply Chain, Government Relations, Operations and other business functions.
Drive alignment on variety trials, regulatory approvals, seed multiplication and commercial rollout activities.
Lead strategic task forces and project working groups.
Monitor project dependencies, deliverables and implementation milestones.
Influence stakeholders and drive collaboration without direct reporting authority.
Facilitate effective communication and coordination across teams.
Portfolio Performance Management
Track, monitor and report strategic Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across the HVC portfolio.
Evaluate initiatives using commercial, operational and farmer-impact performance criteria.
Recommend whether initiatives should be scaled, adapted, paused or discontinued based on evidence and business performance.
Support integration of portfolio priorities into Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
Contribute to business planning, forecasting and performance review cycles.
Leadership Communication & Reporting
Prepare strategic analysis, presentations and recommendations for senior leadership forums.
Support HVC leadership discussions, S&OP reviews and Steering Committee meetings.
Communicate project updates, risks, opportunities and decision requirements clearly.
Support strategic alignment across teams and stakeholders.
Produce reporting
materials that facilitate informed decision-making.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Agribusiness, Agriculture, Economics, Project Management, Strategy, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
Advanced qualifications in Business Administration, Strategy or Project Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
Proven experience leading complex cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.
Experience translating organizational strategy into operational execution plans.
Experience working in agribusiness, agriculture, commercial operations, strategy consulting or related sectors is desirable.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple stakeholders and influencing decision-making across functions.
Experience in commercial planning, business analytics and performance management is preferred.
