One Acre Fund Boiler Operator Jobs in Zambia; The Boiler Operator is responsible for continuous operation and maintenance of boiler systems that generate steam and hot water essential for macadamia processing. The role ensures peak efficiency, strict safety compliance, and minimal downtime through proactive troubleshooting and multi-disciplinary maintenance.

Responsibilities
Food Safety Team Member

Participate in food safety management system (FSMS) meetings and audits.

Train support staff on food safety during machine repairs and maintenance.

Ensure proper documentation under FSMS and production procedures.

Contribute to continuous improvement of factory processes and systems.

Boiler, Steam & Hot Water Management

Operate and monitor boiler systems to supply consistent steam and hot water for drying macadamia (38–44 °C).

Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on steam, water, and compressed air systems.

Optimize system settings for energy efficiency and propose improvements.

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to prevent bottlenecks.

Safety Compliance

Adhere to SHEQ requirements and NITA safety standards.

Conduct routine safety tests (pressure relief valve checks, water level controls).

Ensure boiler operations do not compromise product quality.

Record Keeping & Reporting

Maintain logs of fuel consumption, water levels, maintenance schedules, and repairs.

Report progress, challenges, and material needs to Technical

Lead.

Resource & Inventory Management

Monitor and manage fuel inventory for uninterrupted operations.

Manage tools and spare parts, reporting procurement needs.

Qualifications

Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Production Engineering.

Boiler Operator Certification from NITA.

Minimum 1+ years of experience with steam, hot water, and compressed air systems.

Basic knowledge in plumbing and electrical engineering.

Experience managing a team.
