Job Summary

The incumbent in this position is responsible for supervising the cleaning and maintenance operations on the area assigned to him/her, depending on occupancy and number of supervisors available, each room attendant is to clean guest rooms, corridors and pantries in accordance with the procedures and standards established by the hotel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the work of Room Attendants to ensure all guest rooms and corridors are maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness and tidiness to ensure guest satisfaction and overseas that occupied rooms are serviced and that check out rooms are serviced based on the arrival time of the next guest.
  • Checks the priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Inspects occupied and non-occupied guest rooms and takes corrective measures in order to meet Ole-Sereni standards in terms of cleanliness, maintenance and supplies.
  • Also checks that Housekeeping equipment is given proper care and maintenance.
  • Carries out on the job training and is responsible for grooming and conduct standards of the Room Attendants on assigned floors.
  • Keeps updated records of furniture movement and cleaning schedules of his/her section.
  • Verifies that pantries are equipped with all the necessary items needed in servicing guestrooms, and proper control is practiced to save expenses
  • Signs in and out to master keys, mobile phones and pagers in Housekeeping Office and ensures that all keys are returned.
  • Keeps himself/herself informed of hotel products and services knowledge in order to answer guest questions.
  • Is aware of guest’s safety as well as that of their belongings and the security of the hotel’s property.
  • Answers all guest questions / requests in a friendly and caring manner, takes appropriate actions or if needed, refers the matters to the relevant persons to handle.
  • It may be providing information, giving an extra item such as a towel, etc.
  • At the end of shift, does handover reporting special attention guests, room status discrepancy, unusual situations, incidents that need follow up, to ensure consistency and guest satisfaction.
  • Schedules general cleaning of 1 room per Room Attendant per day, and assists on scheduled cleaning on low occupancy.
  • Signs in and out the attendance sheet.
  • Checks the room status of the assigned floors or section in Opera; arrival and departure timing, VIP guest, Long Stay, Return, Traces, etc.
  • Attends the department briefing and briefs the assigned Housekeepers in his/her floors on the specials of the day.
  • Checks all corridors lighting and signage in proper working condition.
  • Checks that all landings and stairways are clean and empty.
  • Check all corridors are swept, vacuumed, and cleaned properly
  • Informs Room Attendant of early arrivals, VIP’s, special guest request, special cleaning project and any FYI’s
  • Handles guest complaints and give further instructions to the employees if needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Checks that the Attendant’s cart and caddie are clean, not damaged and in good shape.
  • Checks that all vacuums are in good condition and working properly.
  • Check all the Attendants have the correct tools and chemicals for the days cleaning tasks.
  • Inspects any show rooms and early arrivals, all the rooms are completely finished.
  • Checks all rooms have the correct amenities and supplies according to the size of the room and VIP status of the guest.
  • Inspects vacant and occupied rooms cleaned as per the standard.
  • Checks the rooms for any damaged item, urgent repairs, fused bulbs, etc. immediately informs the order taker
    to follow up with engineering.
  • Checks the TV channels correspond to the program on the TV channel list.
  • Checks safe box is working properly and be sure it is kept open in vacant and checked out rooms.
  • At the end of the day check all rooms have been inspected.
  • Ensures all Room Attendants finished their assignment.
  • Views all pantries, exits, corridor and landings and ensure they have been left clean well-arranged and in good condition, otherwise get them cleaned before leaving.
  • Review any DND’s, late service or extra requirements with the room attendant.
  • Writes handover in the log book with any relevant information to follow up.
  • Updates the rooms on Opera system according to the current chart and physically checks and reviews the discrepant rooms with update.
  • Handles lost and found according to the hotel policy.
  • Motivates, encourages, recognizes and prepares the team for the next step.
  • Assures at the end of the shift all occupied and vacant rooms with or without arrival are serviced and inspected properly, unless DND, late service, refused service, or will call statuses are reported.
  • All vacant rooms should be covered and cleaned with a proper handover to the PM shift.
  • Attends any training session or meetings as advised by Department Head.
  • Covers up other areas in the department when needed.
  • Maintains a daily log.
  • Understands and strictly adheres to the Hotel’s Employee rules & regulations at all times.
  • Flexible in shift timings and days.
  • Carries out fire, safety and evacuation procedures as required by the policy of the hotel.
  • Cooperates in the performance of any reasonable task requested by managers of the hotel.
  • Knows and adheres strictly to Lost & Found procedures.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve overall objectives of this position.
  • Understands and strictly adheres to the rules & regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, and Health & Safety.
  • Training of new employees.
  • Cost efficient usage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Follows the code of conduct.
  • Promotes team work within the department and ensure equality at workplace is maintained without sexual discrimination and harassment.
  • Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported and rectified immediately.
  • Understands and strictly adheres to the Hotel’s Employee rules & regulations.
  • Follows company grooming standards, Policies and procedures.
  • Reports any work related accidents happened on premises.
  • Familiar with evacuation procedures.
  • Maintains good relationship with coworkers in Housekeeping and other departments throughout the hotel.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time, depending on the need of the business and hotel

    Job Requirements
  • Required education: Diploma, Associate's degree
  • Required relevant work experience: 12 months
  • Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
