Old Mutual Kenya Sales Manager – Alternative Channels Jobs; The Sales Manager – Alternative Channels will be responsible for developing, managing, and growing strategic partnerships across Alternative Distribution Channels, including MFIs, SACCOs, professional associations, affinity groups, aggregators, fintechs, and other strategic partners. The role will drive sustainable revenue growth by acquiring new business opportunities, strengthening existing partnerships, and delivering innovative insurance solutions across Life, General Insurance, and Health business lines.
The incumbent will have full accountability for business development, premium growth, profitability, retention, and cross‑selling of Life, General Insurance, and Health solutions across the Alternative Channels portfolio.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
Identify, engage, negotiate, and onboard strategic distribution partners.
Drive growth of direct business through referrals, lead generation, and partnerships.
Develop and execute sales strategies to increase insurance penetration and market share.
Present and close insurance solutions for individuals, SMEs, and institutional clients.
Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to achieve premium growth and retention targets.
Identify opportunities for cross‑selling and upselling across Old Mutual’s product portfolio.
Partnership & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with partner executives, decision‑makers, and clients.
Serve as primary relationship manager for assigned partners.
Conduct regular business reviews with partners.
Collaborate internally to ensure seamless partner onboarding and support.
Product Development & Market Expansion
Work with Product Development, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, and Marketing teams.
Gather market intelligence and customer insights to support product innovation.
Identify emerging market opportunities and recommend new distribution models.
Support rollout and adoption of new products across alternative channels.
Training, Capacity Building & Partner Enablement
Develop and deliver training programs for partner staff and intermediaries.
Conduct customer awareness campaigns and financial literacy initiatives.
Support staff referral initiatives to enhance direct business acquisition.
Provide ongoing coaching and support to partners.
Portfolio Management, Compliance & Risk Management
Manage profitability, retention, and quality of the alternative channel portfolio.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and governance standards.
Work with Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Claims teams to mitigate
risks.
Support claims resolution and service recovery initiatives.
Monitor portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions.
Performance Management & Reporting
Track and report on KPIs including premium growth, revenue, retention, and customer satisfaction.
Prepare regular business performance reports and strategic recommendations.
Monitor achievement of sales targets and develop action plans.
Provide insights on market trends and competitor activities.
Qualification and Experience
Academic & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Marketing, Economics, or related field.
Professional insurance qualifications (AIIK, ACII, Dip CII) an added advantage.
Certifications in sales, relationship management, bancassurance, project management, or business development an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or partnership management.
Proven track record of delivering sales growth and managing strategic partnerships.
Experience in Life, General, Health Insurance, or multi‑line distribution highly desirable.
Experience developing and managing alternative distribution channels (SACCOs, MFIs, associations, fintechs, corporates).
Experience in digital insurance distribution, embedded insurance, or platform partnerships an added advantage.
