Old Mutual Kenya Assistant Underwriter Jobs in Kenya;The Underwriting Officer enforces underwriting controls, ensures compliance with guidelines, processes documentation accurately and provides excellent customer service to support retention and profitability of the Life Business department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce underwriting controls including onboarding, certificates, booking of business and documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and SOPs.

  • Capture clean and accurate data.

  • Prepare quotations and follow up promptly.

  • Debit premiums and process policy documents within timelines.

  • Process and check underwriting documents.

  • Issue and sign motor certificates and yellow cards.

  • Review and dispatch notices and documents.

  • Ensure work meets service standards and turnaround times (TAT).

  • Prepare reports for management and departmental use.

  • Deliver quality customer service to all clients.

  • Safeguard security documents.

  • Scan and index mails daily.

  • Initiate motor valuations and follow up.

  • Adhere to credit control policy.

  • Follow up renewals to maximize retention of profitable accounts.

  • Process refunds timely and follow up.

  • Ensure 100% adherence to authority matrix.

  • Maintain orderly and up‑to‑date registry.

  • Ensure compliance with AML and PEP guidelines.

  • Maximize cross‑sale and up‑sale opportunities.

  • Perform other duties as required by management.

    Skills & Competencies

  • Basic underwriting skills and product knowledge.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Computer literacy.

    Qualifications

  • Degree, preferably in Insurance.

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
