Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights SGBV Investigator Jobs in South Sudan

Responsibilities

Serve as lead SGBV investigator, researching, collecting, and analyzing information and documentation.

Advise on drafting information‑gathering plans and propose methods and tools for SGBV investigations.

Conduct interviews with victims and witnesses using gender‑sensitive techniques.

Monitor trends and patterns of violations, employing mapping tools and multi‑source materials.

Identify alleged perpetrators based on agreed methodologies.

Participate in and organize missions to sites of violations.

Develop analytical reports following fact‑finding missions.

Ensure protection and confidentiality of victims and witnesses, with effective referral pathways.

Safeguard and preserve investigation documentation in line with Commission procedures.

Undertake preliminary analysis and draft analytical documents, including gender analysis.

Draft relevant sections and provide inputs for the Commission’s report.

Ensure gender perspectives are integrated at all stages of investigation and reporting.

Perform other related duties as required.

Planning and Organizing: Ability to set clear goals, identify priorities, and manage resources efficiently.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or related field.

First‑level degree with two additional years

of qualifying experience may be accepted.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ progressively responsible experience in human rights required.

At least 2 years’ experience in child rights or SGBV investigations required.

Experience in conflict or post‑conflict settings desirable.

Languages

English required.

French is also a working language of the UN Secretariat.
