Office of Internal Oversight Services Chief of Section – Internal Audit Division Jobs in Kenya; OIOS is the internal oversight function of the United Nations, assisting the Secretary-General in fulfilling oversight responsibilities through audit, investigation, inspection, and evaluation services.

The Internal Audit Division (IAD) provides assurance and advisory services to UN entities under the Secretary-General’s authority.

This position is located in the African Audit Section, IAD, OIOS, Nairobi. The Chief of Section reports to the Chief of Service, New York Audit Service.

Responsibilities

Oversee annual risk assessment of client portfolios and maintain risk registers

Develop and implement Section’s medium- and long-term goals and annual audit work plans

Plan, organize, and direct multiple concurrent audit/advisory engagements

Manage human and financial resources of the Section

Define broad objectives and scope for each engagement

Provide leadership across all phases of audits/advisories to ensure compliance with OIOS standards and global internal audit practices

Review working papers and engagement communications (audit/advisory reports)

Empower staff to assume responsibility and provide guidance on technical/administrative matters

Lead sensitive and complex audits/advisories

Ensure consistency and adequacy of audit practices; analyze guidelines and standards

Lead data collection/analysis to identify trends for data-driven planning and reporting

Comment on and recommend improvements to administrative issuances, including financial rules

Monitor implementation of audit recommendations

Liaise with internal audit functions of other UN organizations

Establish and maintain positive relationships with auditees and oversight bodies

Carry out other tasks as assigned by Service Chief or Director of IAD

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field required

First-level degree with qualifying experience may be accepted

Completion of degree/non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science an advantage

Job-Specific Qualification

Certification as CPA, CA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent desirable

Work Experience

Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in audit, finance, accounting, administration, or related area required

At least 5 years of audit management experience required

At least 5 years drafting audit reports required

At least 3 years reviewing audit reports required

At least 5 years managing diverse professionals required

Experience analyzing complex data sets using contemporary analytics tools required

Languages

English required

French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), or Russian desirable
