Requirements for Appointment

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen;

  • Degree in Education, Anthropology, Sociology or any other related degree from a recognized institution in Kenya.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Endorsing forms for cultural practitioners;

  • Overseeing Kiswahili as a national language of communication as well as promoting the indigenous language;

  • Overseeing liquor licensing and control at Sub County;

  • Endorsing cultural groups and individuals requiring assistance with cultural grants;

  • Overseeing preparation of cultural groups for participation during county, national functions and events;

  • Ensuring the development of creative cultural industries;

  • Documenting viable cultural element of intangible cultural heritage for inscription and safe guarding;

  • Monitoring and evaluation of cultural programs and preparing necessary periodic reports;

  • Mobilizing cultural groups for sub county cultural festivals, capacity building workshops exhibitions, symposia, seminars, concerts, art and traditional food competition to promote and empower cultural practitioners;

  • In charge of development of film industry, research and dissemination of information at the sub county;

  • In charge of community library and cultural centers at the sub county; and

  • Ensuring that cultural practitioners form associations and committees for effective service delivery
