Job Title:
  • Case Management Project Officer

    Background:

    The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is present in five regions in Ethiopia, providing refugees and internally displaced people with emergency relief and help them to rebuild their lives.

    NRC works within the sectors of Education, Shelter, WASH, Livelihood and Food Security, ICLA (Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance), and Child Protection.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    Generic Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement Child Protection Case Management Activities according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents and confidentiality
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

    Specific Responsibilities:

  • The Case Management officer is responsible to work with the case management team to identify, document and refer children that are in need of additional assistance.
  • Support database and case management team in their day to day work.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with various service providers to ensure proper referral and services for children at risk.
  • Ensure proper and regular filing and documentation of data collected by CP case workers and ensuring confidentiality and the minimum standard in data storage.
  • Closely follow up and review all child protection cases followed by the CP case workers through the use of supervision tool and develop system for regular supervision of case management.
  • Ensure face to face discussion with the relevant parties involved (children, care giver, stakeholders etc.)
  • Facilitate inter- agency case management meeting with service providers in collaboration with the child protection team.
  • Provide technical support, guidance and training to NRC case workers and Child protection team on case management in coordination with child protection coordinator.
  • Ensure case management system is properly followed up and that case workers and other staffs fill in correctly the case management
    forms, referrals and other tools
  • Organize case review meeting and case conference to discuss challenging cases, ensure timely and proper follow up and that all systems are functional
  • To oversee case management including follow up on referrals and action plans and support and facilitate services provided to CP survivors.
  • To provide feedback to child protection Team Leader on case management issues and progress.
  • To develop lesson learned and best practices.
  • To develop and support adherence to CP case management minimum standards.
  • Prepare and submit weekly, biweekly and monthly progress reports to the CP Team Leader.
  • Maintain positive coordination and relationship with ARRA, UNHCR, partners and other NRC sector staff.
  • Other duties related to the nature of the job assigned by the child Protection Team Leader.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications and Competences:

  • University degree in relevant area - psychology, social work, Sociology & etc. and minimum two years of relevant working experience as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • knowledge of English

    Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge of the Shire Operation Area.
  • Knowledge of the Tigrigna local language
