[Job Title: ICT Officer (ICT= Information and communications technology)

(National Position)

Reporting to: Head of Support

Job Based at: Addis Ababa with 50% travel to the fields

Length of Contract: 6 Months with possibility of extension

Roles & Responsibilities:

The ICT officer is responsible for the smooth management of the computer systems and networks of an organization. He/she will provide effective and efficient support on day to day basis to users of the network and systems, installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solve technical and applications problems.

He/she will be responsible for enforcing the ICT policies and roll out of new ICT products and policies, training of staff and monitoring and upgrading of IT infrastructure.

Generic responsibilities:

  • Implement NRC’s ICT policies and guidelines at country level

  • Ensure system security

  • Ensure that network access privileges, applications, data storage and regular backups are configured and maintained

  • Implement and update a data disaster recovery plan (back up)

  • Schedule computer related services, maintenance and license renewals

  • Ensure installation and maintenance of protection services (anti-viruses and firewalls)

  • Plan network upgrades, expansions and replacements

  • Provide ICT support and trainings to staff to the country

  • Participate in the procurement processes of ICT equipment

    Specific Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, update and maintain workstations, laptops, printers/copiers, external drives, monitors and other peripheral hardware.
  • Provide software and system troubleshooting and update operating systems and user applications.
  • Proactively schedule software upgrades and patching.
  • Track license and support contracts to include notification of renewal timeframe to management.
  • Monitor network to ensure
    network functionality and availability to all system users.
  • Request and setup new user accounts and email accounts (in collaboration with ICT Support – Oslo).
  • Plan for technology upgrades, expansion and replacements by overseeing their systematic needs assessment, specification and budgeting.
  • Train new and current employees on computer software and ICT systems.
  • Assist with preparation of operating budgets based on estimated and actual expenditures for ICT systems and support needs.
  • Any other duties that may develop over the duration of the contract and assigned by the line manager

    Job Requirements

    Context/Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience

  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

  • Knowledge about own skills/profile

  • Fluency in English

  • Hands on Experience and knowledge in Hardware, LAN/WLAN,

  • Prior ICT experience in a setup with environmental and geographical constraints.

  • Professional knowledge of network technologies and Windows clients

  • Experience in handling servers and related access management control

  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, identify and isolate technical issues

  • Willing to take ownership of issue analysis and resolution efforts and commitment to get results
