Norwegian Refugee Council Country Director Jobs in South Sudan;The Country Director provides overall leadership and responsibility for NRC’s country operation.

The role ensures strategic direction, effective programme delivery, strong external representation, resource mobilisation, advocacy and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and management of the country programme.

  • Drive effective programme delivery, continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Lead external representation and advocacy, engaging with government, donors, UN and local actors.

  • Promote accountability, safeguarding and adherence to humanitarian principles.

  • Build high‑performing teams to deliver accountable, high‑impact response.

  • Analyse political and humanitarian context and adapt NRC programming.

  • Contribute to regional displacement crisis strategy with neighbouring NRC Country Directors.

    Professional Competencies

  • Minimum 7 years’ relevant managerial experience, including 5 years as Senior Manager/Country Director in humanitarian contexts.

  • Experience working in complex or volatile settings.

  • Experience leading diverse teams.

  • Fluency in English, written and verbal.

  • Strong representation and advocacy skills.

  • Knowledge of ESA region, especially South Sudan.

  • Experience in protracted displacement settings.

    2 years.

  • Salary/benefits: Grade 12 NRC international scale.
