Norwegian Refugee Council Area Manager - Dadaab, Positions in Kenya

The Norwegian Refugee Council in Kenya is looking for an Area Manager based Dadaab, to provide overall leadership of the North East Area, ensuring ensure high quality and cost effective programme implementation.

The Area Manager is responsible for oversight of both programme implementation and operations.

Job description

Overall management of the thematic activities, field offices and staff within the specific area, including the Area Management Team (AMT)

Development and execution of the strategy for the area

Adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements

Management of the emergency response capacity in the area

Overall responsibility for safety and security of staff

Area level advocacy

External representation, coordination and relationship building

Responsible for shared resource allocation

Implementation of policies and procedures

Learning, training and development of staff

Ensuring right-size of support structure of Dadaab to support programmes.

Ensuring effective budget management and financial control

Ensuring monitoring and evaluation of all projects

Qualifications

First Level University Degree/Bachelor's Degree in relevant and related discipline

Minimum 5 years of experience from working as a Senior Project Manager or similar in a humanitarian/recovery context

Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Knowledge of the context

in North-Eastern Kenya

Knowledge of Kiswahili is an advantage

Experience or ability to managing change processes

Personal qualities

Resilient with the ability to live and work in remote and hardship locations

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage performance and empower a team

Ability to think strategically

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Strong representation and influencing skills

Duty Station: Dadaab, Kenya

Contract Duration: 12 months
