Norwegian Red Cross Senior Advisor Public Health Jobs in Kenya;The Norwegian Red Cross is seeking a Senior Advisor in Public Health to strengthen access to health and protection for people affected by conflicts and crises, including climate disasters. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the successful candidate will provide global technical expertise, support emergency preparedness and response, and enhance the organization’s position in public health operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Provide technical public health expertise within Norwegian Red Cross‑supported operations, aligned with the Operational Framework 2024–2026.

  • Support global emergency preparedness and response efforts.

  • Provide technical support to country operations as needed.

    Operational Responsibilities
  • Analyze PHiE capacities in the NoRC roster to identify competencies and gaps.

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and continuous engagement of roster delegates.

  • Facilitate epidemiological and public health components within trainings.

  • Co‑develop and deliver IFRC trainings jointly with Regional Offices.

  • Provide technical support to CBS ERU training.

  • Offer public health expertise during pre‑deployment, deployment, and post‑deployment phases.

  • Contribute to IFRC surge planning, health strategy discussions, and technical working groups.

  • Review and adapt technical guidance and tools for CBS and PHiE ERU deployments.

  • Conduct technical briefings, debriefings, and institutionalize learnings into NoRC and IFRC systems.

  • Provide technical quality assurance and disseminate relevant standards, tools, and resources.

  • Support resource mobilization efforts.

    Collaboration
  • Work closely with technical colleagues to ensure integrated public health support.

  • Collaborate with the Global Disaster Management Unit and regional/country teams.

  • Foster cross‑departmental collaboration within Norwegian RC.

  • Enhance collaboration with global health networks, including IFRC and ICRC focal
    points.

    Skills and Knowledge
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Public Health, Global Health, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in humanitarian health programs, with at least 2 years in advisory roles.

  • Proven experience managing public health emergency interventions, including disease outbreaks.

  • Epidemiological skills are an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of international public health emergency standards (WHO, SPHERE, RCRC protocols).
