Placement in the organization

Department: East Africa

Line manager: Regional Director for NMS East Africa

Workstation: Addis Ababa with regular travels to project sites in Western Ethiopia and Addis. Some international travel may be required.

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure regular monitoring of all NMS projects in Ethiopia

  • Provide competence building for partners and projects in the field of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

  • Develop NMS Ethiopia’s MEAL systems

  • Work with case handlers and other advisors to ensure that external and internal evaluations are carried out in a professional manner

  • Assist partners in the processes of application and reporting in cooperation with the advisors and field coordinator

  • Provide information about projects to NMS Global, East Africa section, and to the communication and fundraising department of NMS

  • The advisor might be given extra responsibility to follow up some particular projects

  • Be an active member of the East Africa section and the Ethiopia country office and contribute to strategic development, capacity building and good communication flow between
    NMS and its partners and projects

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, such as development studies, social science, or related fields

  • Minimum five years of professional experience. Minimum three of the years should be with an international organization

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to promote a knowledge-sharing and learning culture in the office.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write accurate reports and build networks to obtain cooperation with partners.

  • Excellent computer/information application skills, including word processing, excel, PowerPoint etc.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behaviour and attitudes.

  • Ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Fluent Amharic is a prerequisite. Knowledge of Oromo is an asset.
