Job Description

Norwegian Church Aid is a non-profit organization working in 30 countries worldwide to eradicate poverty. In Ethiopia, Norwegian Church Aid has been operating since 1974, engaged in short term emergency response and long-term development programs.

Our intervention in Ethiopia focuses on Climate Resilience, Reproductive Health, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, as well as Humanitarian Emergency Response. NCA/E operate in six regions: Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Somali, Gambella, Southern Nations Nationalities and People’s State and at the Federal level.

NCA/E would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for Reproductive Health Program Advisor position.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Reproductive Health Program, the Reproductive Health Advisor provides broad support to the development, implementation, monitoring and follow up of NCA’s RH Program with wide range of Norwegian government and UN agencies supported projects.

The task requires an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who can work autonomously and as part of a team. The Advisor will be required to work closely with NCA and implementing partners' program and finance team.

The post holder will need to deliver effective, highly competent project support and consistently deliver in a person-centered environment, which promotes positive relationships, ensures timely and cost-effective implementation of program activities, support the program / project development, monitoring of implementation of plans, budget preparation, reporting, documentation, partner relations, and knowledge management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops project proposals, concept notes, work plans, monitoring plans, and compile progress reports of the programme in collaboration with the program team and implementing partners;
  • Conduct frequent field visits and monitor project implementation progress and identify and address implementation challenges in collaboration with RH program team and NCA country team.
  • Support the documentation and dissemination of project results, including preparation and submission of progress reports, presentations, and other program documentation.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of assessments and program reviews activities.
  • Support the development of RH program budgets, budget modifications and monitor program expenditures to ensure activities are implemented within budgetary guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of implementing partners project initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and NCA financial and other policies and procedures and contribute to the preparation and implementation of grant requirements.
  • Provide feedback and implement project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs, and activities are delivered on time and as per the planned budget.
  • Attend key internal meetings and initiatives as required.
  • Establish positive relationship with partners and other stakeholders through effective communication.
  • Contribute to capacity building plans for NCA / partners and its implementation with other team members.
  • Represent NCA and the program externally in meetings, workshops and seminars.
  • Support in project appraisal and reviewing project implementation in line with NCA and other donor requirements.
  • Undertake any other duties as appropriate and within the post holders' capabilities

    Length of Contract: One year with possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds

    Required qualifications:

  • MA in Sociology, Psychology, Gender studies and Social work
  • 3+ years of wide range experience in gender and Harmful practices (FGM and Child marriage)
  • Skill in project management (developing and implementing GBV, FGM and Child marriage related projects
  • Demonstrated experience working with government stakeholders, implementing partners, faith-based organizations and other stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate experience working donor funded projects, such as UN agencies, NORAD, and other International Agencies.
  • Proven experience on planning, budget preparation and financial and grant management
    Demonstrated experience in working in teams, as well as, working independently with minimum supervision.
  • Experience in managing/working in diverse partner projects and or in consortium with other organizations

    Personal qualities:

  • Very good knowledge of the policy and strategies related to Gender, harmful practices and other key development areas.
  • English writing and communication proficiency,
  • Strong organization skills, coachable and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent in using digital monitoring tools, and Microsoft Excel relevant to budget preparation
  • Ability to work under pressure and able meeting deadlines
  • Able to maintain motivation of self and others
  • Strong personal integrity and commitment to accountability
  • Detail oriented in following up and networking
  • Excellent computer basic skills and keen to learn relevant software used by NCA
