About the Role

Based in Nairobi and reporting to Regional Representative. the Regional Peace Programme Manager will ensure effective planning and implementation of the Regional Peace Programme in line with NCA current Global Strategy “Faith in Action” and the 2020-2024 Regional Peace Programme Strategic Plan.

The Manager contributes towards the coordination of peace work in the region with NCA Head Office/ Global Peace Programme, NCA country offices in the region and implementing partners.

Main Tasks

  • Provide guidance on programme planning and implementation
  • Ensure timely and high-quality donor and internal reporting
  • Provide support and technical guidance to NCA regional partners
  • Support the development and application of regional (and international) responses to conflict and insecurity in the region
  • Organise and lead programme coordination meetings
  • Support the implementation of the NCA Regional Advocacy Strategy
  • Actively support knowledge generation and sharing
  • Establish and manage relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ensure effective communication and cooperation between the RPP and NCA Country Offices
  • Facilitate exchanges and lesson-learning between implementing partners and the broader civil society in the region
  • Support and link up partners’ advocacy initiatives
  • Support partners institutional and organisational capacity development
  • Undertake resource mobilisation for the programme’s activities
  • Financial management of programme budget in collaboration with the finance department

    Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree minimum in Development Studies/ International Relations/ Social Studies /Peace and conflict studies or related areas

    Experience
  • A minimum of 7-10 years professional experience in Programmes development and management within an international NGO.
  • Proven experience of working with Faith Based Institutions and religious leaders
  • Knowledge of the socio-political landscape of the Eastern Africa region
  • Experience of working with regional partners in an accompaniment and mentoring role, including capacity building and technical support
  • Experience in
    advocacy towards policy makers
  • Knowledge of gender including practical experience of designing and implementing interventions with women, youth and marginalised groups respectively
  • Experience in training or possession of facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience of working on peace and conflict transformation
  • Experience of using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Legal permission to work in Kenya without a work permit

    Other Competencies and Attributes
  • Demonstrates well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills both verbal and written as well as negotiation skills
  • Is able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Adherence to deadlines
  • Proficiency in the use of word, Excel and Power Point
  • Must have good knowledge of Humanitarian Standards and Principles including ‘Do no Harm’, SPHERE, Child Protection and Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) etc
  • Language: Excellent spoken and written English. Ability to communicate in French will be an asset.
