Purpose of this position An appointment of a Lecturer in History to make contributions to the teaching effort of the subject group, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional activities including the presentation and publication of research.
He or she must also contribute to the development of community engagement and the advancement of the Faculty and School strategic plans.
Minimum Requirements...
Masters Degree in History
1 year teaching experience of undergraduate and post graduate in History in a University context
Recommendations:
Significant progress towards completing of a PhD in History
Record of postgraduate Supervision in History
Proven record of Academic Publishing

Essential Competences
Knowledge and skills
Knowledge of current developments in the field of Social Anthropology (both teaching and research)
Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU Good communication (verbally and written)
Develop undergraduate and post graduate curricula
Conduct independent Anthropological research
Behavioural competencies:
Must be able to work in a team context
Must be able to resolve workplace conflicts in a professional manner
Must be able to work independently
Must be able to work with a diverse group of colleagues, students and university stakeholders
Responsibilities:
Teaching : Teaching modules in History
Research :Publishing own research in peer reviewed journals and books. Attending and presenting papers at conferences (nationally and internationally).Improving own qualification
Administration : Assisting with administration pertaining to teaching and research.
Community Engagement: Contributing to public scholarship and to other activities related to community engagement, internationalization and stakeholder relations
