Non Deposit Taking Micro Finance Accountant Jobs in Nairobi, Kenya

General Role:

The Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Financial Accountant in ensuring that accounting functions are full met.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Financial Accountant in his role as delegated
  • Relieve the Financial Accountant when on leave
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data
  • Prepare ledger accounts reconciliations and schedules
  • Maintain Cashbook
  • Prepare all payments
  • Work closely with the Loan Management and Payroll Software systems installers to ensure fast check and maintenance as necessary, identifying any areas of improvement
  • Work closely with the Management Accountant consultant
  • Ensure accounting discrepancies and irregularities are resolved within reasonable time
  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  • Discuss with clients their loan statements including payments and outstanding loans, advising the client on the consequences of not paying
  • Member of the loans committee to evaluate, appraise and approve loans based on stated and agreeable factors
  • Disburse or Approve client loans in liaison with the MD
  • Ensure client loans repayment posting in the easybuz system
  • Register chattels in the absence of the office administrator
  • Assist the Loan Officers with client’s loan statements and take them through for thorough understanding
  • Prepare daily loan tracker reports
  • Keep the safe code combination
  • Make loan collections when required
  • Relieve the
    Administration and HR officer when on leave
  • Keep custody of the Safe opening code details
  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications
  • Accounting diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications and packages
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with a MFI.
