  • Reporting to Assistant Manager, Assessment and Certification, The job holder will be
    responsible for facilitatingAssessment & Certification in the Industry.

    Job Description

    The Principal Industrial Training Officer-Assessment and Certificationis responsible for
    the following;


  • i. Coordinating and supervising training activities in the Unit/Section;
  • ii. Registering of training contracts, approval of transfer of contracts and advice
  • the Director on the termination or extension of contracts
  • iii. Developing policies for effective departmental administration and
    management;
  • iv. Identify areas of research and co-ordinate research and
    development;
  • v. Planning, Reviewing, co-ordination and implementation of the policies and
    objectives of the Unit/Section;
  • vi. Be in-charge of training development of small scale and medium scale
    businessmen and industrialists;
  • vii. Be responsible for the general management and efficient use of resources in
    the Unit/Section;
  • viii. Review overall performance of staff in the Unit/Section; and
  • ix. Preparation of budgetary proposals, and control of expenditure.
  • x. Establish and maintain the Department’s Quality Management System.
  • xi. Coordinate quality assurance and ensure implementation of quality
    standards.

    Person Specifications

    For appointment at this position, a candidate must have: -


  • i. A minimum period of eight (8) years in relevant work experience and at least
  • three (3) years in supervisory role in a position in the Public Service or Private
    Sector;
  • ii. A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: mechanical,
    electrical/electronics, computer science, information communication
    technology, automotive, building and construction, refrigeration and air
    conditioning, agri-business, P.V. solar installation,
    hair dressing and beauty
    therapy, textile, fashion & design, Human Resource, Mathematics, Business
    Administration, Physics, Chemistry, Finance any other occupational field or an
    equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • iii. A Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: mechanical,
    electrical/electronics, computer science, information communication
    technology, automotive, building and construction, refrigeration and air
    conditioning, agri-business, P.V. solar installation, hair dressing and beauty
    therapy, textile, fashion & design, Human Resource, Mathematics, Business
    Administration, Physics, Chemistry, Finance any other occupational field or an
    equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • iv. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized
    institution;
  • v. Be in possession of Instructor Training certificate of not less than four (4)
    weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • vi. Professional qualification and membership where applicable.
  • vii.Proficiency in computer applications.
  • viii. Good Communication skills.
  • ix. Demonstrated results in work performance; and
  • x. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution.
