The Role Purpose:
  • To enhance Nielsen’s infrastructure and the employee experience via strategic data analytics reporting, facilitation of training and development programs, improvement of human resources processes, and growing the talent pipeline and employer brand.

    Role & Responsibilities:
  • Analytics - HR Data Owner - Support Strategic Operational Improvement Initiatives through Statistical Analysis
  • Interpret talent data focusing on engagement (Gallup myVoice), talent development (SAP Success Factors), performance ratings (SAP Success Factors), succession planning (SAP Success Factors), retention/attrition (Viser) and recruiting (Nielsen recruitment hub)
  • Lead qualitative data analysis projects that may include regressions, trend analysis other statistical analysis
  • Lead and conduct evaluation projects, reporting, and analysis to understand the effectiveness of new initiatives
  • Communicate findings and recommendations on critical initiatives for leaders to take action on those finding
  • Design, implement and own an HR analytics and data management system to provide greater insight into HR people data
  • Partner with global SAP, People Analytics, HR Data Quality & Governance team, and local Data
  • Science team to design, develop and implement a self-service business intelligence reporting system and analytical data to improve data reliability and accessibility (Viser)
  • Partner with business leads to align the business and people strategy via an integrated people plan to address gaps and enhance capabilities across:
  • Talent Planning - Survey development, deployment, and integrated results management; strategic workforce planning including the integration of internal and external market data to reflect demand and supply of talent
  • Talent Development - Nielsen Academy - to enable the effective delivery of business results through our associates and the development of external bench strength.
  • Build, grow and sustain our talent pipeline via the ownership of Internal/external leadership, Management development programs,
    Graduate and
  • Continuous improvement of our onboarding/offboarding engagement strategy
  • Talent Management - Maintenance and updating of the HR Sub Saharan Africa website;
  • Hold associates accountable for check-ins and annual reviews being captured in SAP Success factors (myCareer) via system/data audits;
  • Create and update the organization’s performance distribution curve and related data analysis across all HR data points to highlight areas of risk/opportunity
  • Talent Climate - Interpret and conduct a deep-dive analysis of myVoice engagement annual and pulse surveys to provide holistic and data-driven recommendations to the business.
  • Continuous improvement - efficiency measures e.g. automation, HR dashboard to assist with operational planning/collaboration with FP&A lead
  • Oversees the implementation and administration of Human Capital programs in line with standards and procedures
  • Overall integration across the HR model and all related data points to create strategic plans to mitigate business risk and capitalize on areas of opportunity

    Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, a related quantitative field or equivalent practical experience (e.g. Data Science, People Analytics, etc).
  • Experience working with and manipulating data from businesses (e.g., checking for data issues, cleaning, merging).
  • Experience using business data to conduct statistical analyses and test hypotheses (e.g., correlation, regression, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, HLM, etc.).
  • Technical skills: Experience using R, SPSS, STATA, and/or other languages to conduct statistical analyses.
  • Experience using SQL to clean data.
