The NGOs Co-ordination Board is a State Corporation established under Section 3 of the NGOs Co-ordination Act, 1990 with the mandate to register, co-ordinate and regulate all charitable organizations in Kenya.

The Board wishes to re-advertise for the recruitment of the Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • The executive Director/ CEO of the NGOs Coordination Board will be responsible to the Board for overall planning, directing, controlling and coordination to the Board’s activities.

    Specific duties and responsibilities will entail;

  • Provision of strategic direction to the Board in the development and implementation of regulation framework for the NGO sector.
  • Developing and recommending to the Board the long term strategy, business plans, and annual operating budgets.
  • Ensuring proper management and control of the Board’s financial and non-financial resources in an efficient and cost effective manner in consultation with the Board.
  • Managing day to day business of the Board.
  • Establishing proper internal control systems and procedures.
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation framework for evaluating the performance of the activities of the sector.
  • Ensuring that there is effective communication in the Board by facilitating effective communication between the management and the Board.
  • Attending to personnel matters including organizational structures, appointments, welfare training, industrial and employee relations and effective management of succession plans.
  • Ensuring continuous improvements in the quality and value of services and products provided by the Board.
  • Overseeing the development, review and implementation of corporate policies and programmes.
  • Fostering a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good corporate governance as well as attracting, retaining and motivating employees.
  • Convening Board’s meetings in consultation with the chairperson.
  • Ensuring Board’s decisions are implemented and reported on time.
  • Overseeing administration, supervision, management of staff and other resources of the Board.
  • Ensuring compliance with the laws of the Country in regulation of Non-Governmental organizations.

    Requirements for Appointment

  • Relevant working experience of at least ten (10) years with a minimum of five (5) years in a senior
    management and leadership position in a regulatory organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Social sciences, Law or any other Business related field from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s degree in Administration, Social sciences, Law or any other Business related disciplines from a recognized institution.
  • Financial management skills with the capacity to identify and develop the Board’s revenue base.
  • Proven competencies in strategic leadership and corporate governance.
  • Proven leadership qualities, problem solving and negotiation skills, excellent team building and organizational skills and evidence of being a strong team player.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of national goals, policies and development objectives, and ability to translate them into non-governmental organization Board policies, programmes and projects.

    Fulfill the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity and are therefore required to submit clearance from the following institutions together with the job applications:

  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  • Certificate of Good Conduct from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
  • Terms of Service: Three (3) years renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance.
