Main Responsibilities

Our client in the Oil& gas industry is looking to recruit and self-driven experienced personal who will be responsible for the following tasks;

  • To coordinate and support the development, implementation, execution, enhancement, updating, monitoring and evaluation of the following activities: Stakeholder Engagement Strategies such as updates, disclosures, consultations related to regular engagements, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), Social Management plans including RAP’s and Livelihood Restoration Plan’s (LRP).
  • Additionally, the job holder will work with the Site Community Liaison team, Grievance and Community Development officers to implement activities such as the social Investment strategies which include Tree planting, Road safety, Education, Water and Data collection managed through the Company’s database.

  • To ensure relevant scopes of work are in place to deliver the Social Management Plans in line with international best practice and regulatory requirements.

  • To coordinate the RAP’s and LRP’s as well as other plans that may come on stream supported by relevant team members working with the respective third-party contractors to execute the activities.

  • To provide quality control for all material developed within the societal department by the team and by third parties, hence among other things capacity building of the team to enhance their technical and behavioural competencies.

  • To guarantee all Societal & environmental activities are well achieved and properly tracked in the Social Management System (Borealis) for monitoring and future interventions with appropriate analysis and reports conducted on a monthly basis with necessary actions followed up swiftly and consistently.

  • To coordinate all methods within the social departments which
    may include and not be limited to all procedures to be developed or updated as required for the project as well as all necessary reporting.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • University Degree in Social Studies, Business Administration, and natural resource management, Economics, Rural development, Agronomy, Project management or equivalent related field.

  • At least 5 years’ experience working in oil and gas (or extractives) developing and executing social investment strategies, land acquisition and resettlement programmes in a developing country in line with international best practice such as IFC an added advantage;

  • Demonstrated ability in project management working in remote and challenging environments with rural communities, civil societies, Central and Local Governments as well as good negotiation and conflict management skills;
    Highly developed organizational and man-management skills with proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain good relations with a wide range of stakeholders including authorities, local communities, industry and international organizations;

  • Excellent Computer skills (Word, Excel, and PPT)/ Good report writing and analytical skills.
