The main function of the finance associate is to assist with various finance responsibilities.

The associate will gain exposure to the day and day processes which will include accounts payable, vendor management, cashbook reconciliations, accounts receivables and other departmental administration processes

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounts payable

  • Assist in capturing transactions on accounting system.

  • Assist in ensuring cash claim expenditure is accurately and timeously captured across the business.

  • Assist in the preparation of processing payments onto the banking system.

    Cashbooks

  • Assisting in processing entries on the bank accounts on the accounting system e.g. payment runs, bank charges, customer receipts and interest.

  • Assist with preparation of bank reconciliations.

  • Upload bank statements for all bank accounts onto the intranet.

    Accounts receivable

  • Assist in invoicing customers on accounting system.

  • Assist in customer reconciliations.

  • Assist in ensuring timeous receipts from customers and follow-up on outstanding invoices.

    Credit card claims

  • Assist in accurately and timeously capturing credit card expenditure across the business as required.

  • Participate in outstanding claims investigations.
    Vendor management

  • Participate in the new vendor creation process.

  • Collate completed supplier accreditation forms with supporting documentation as required by the business

    Economic Development and BEE reporting

  • Assist in preparing quarterly ED reporting submissions and collation of data.

  • Assist in the preparation of data
    and sample selection for the BEE audits.

  • Any other duties, as assigned by the line manager, in line with the role.

    Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

  • Ability to manage time, prioritize and adherence to strict deadlines.

  • High attention to detail and deadline driven.

  • Ability to effectively plan, organize & prioritize.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

  • A willingness to work to strict guidelines.

  • Good administrative skills.

  • The ability to work well individually and as part of a team.

  • Self-motivated with ability to work remotely.

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

  • Ability and willing to learn.
