Our client is a retail company setting up in Uganda and is looking to hire competent, proactive and value driven Section Managers for these Commercial Departments:
Consumer Goods Section - 3 positions
Non-Food Section - 1 position
Butchery Section - 1 position
Delicatessen / Dairy Section - 1 position
Key Responsibilities:
Stock management to ensure product availability
Negotiation of internal promotions
Respect and ensure the implementation of the security & hygiene procedures (assets and employees) in the store.
Ensure the team is listening to customer and react rapidly to their requirements.
Stay informed about competition activities in the store’s catchment’s area and take necessary measures.
Respect national concepts application in the department.
Ensure proper stock management (stock value, control out of stock, orders and merchandise deliveries).
Assortments must be aligned with each store’s specific cultural, economic and social features.
Enforce safety, health and security rules within the section as per internal standards and external rules and regulations.
Ensure the proper conservation, utilization and profitability of the department’s assets.
Guarantee the quality, the application and protection of company’s “Know-How”.
Apply the company corporate policies and labor laws for working hours, leaves & weekly schedule.
Ensure the participation of the team in the quest for enhancement of working conditions and productivity.
Manages the staff efficiency and the availability to drive the section objectives. He/she practices the company values and ensures compliance by all team members.
Responsible for the Performance Management of the team as well as management of the training approved:
Initiate and motivate comparative studies within his/her section that can contribute to the efficiency of the commercial concepts.
Closely monitor sales activities to ensure that customers receive exceptional customer service at
all times.
Manage and control attractive displays (including merchandiser activities) and correct pricing are implemented at all times.
Monitor and report competitor activities (Prices, range, promotional activities etc.) to ensure competitive advantage.
Negotiate internal promotions with suppliers to enforce the image of discount inside the section.
Ensure freshness of the offered goods within the set internal quality standards and requirements as per applicable local rules and regulations (only applicable to food related sections).
Identify financial risk for the section and liaise with the Head Office for an action plan.
Be involved in the preparation of the strategic plan in sync with the overall business strategy.
Ensure the financial process in their section in term of Financial KPIs and Budget to secure the return of investment on current operating projects. Also sets appropriate control mechanism to ensure budget compliance and takes corrective measures when necessary.
Proposes and takes necessary measures towards continuous reduction of the operational costs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma in Commerce or Finance
Excellent Communication and Presentation skills
Proficient time management
3 years in retail business
1-2 years in an operations supervisory role
