Job Description

  • The Manager, Corporate Communication is responsible for enhancing the Fund’s identity, visibility, image and reputation by developing and implementing appropriate communication strategies and tools to support and promote organizational goals and objectives.

    Responsibilities

  • Formulating and implementing creative communication strategies and public relations (PR) programs;

  • Building synergy and enhancing collaboration with the public sector and private sector institutions;

  • Advising management on the reputational implications of corporate decisions and activities;

  • Enhancing organizational culture through efficient internal communication;

  • Developing operational plans and budget for effective implementation of communication and PR programs;

  • Managing the production of the corporate publications including annual reports and branded materials;

  • Overseeing digital communication, including the Fund’s website, social media presence and e-bulletins

  • Promoting effective stakeholder relations by responding to all queries directed at the Fund from general public, media, special interest and other stakeholder groups;

  • Equipping management and other designated spokespersons to handle the media and other public appearances for coordinated and coherent messaging

  • Preparing talking points, speeches, press releases, presentations and other communication material;

  • Undertaking media liaison for the Fund’s campaign activities;

  • Organize all NETFUND events/functions such as exhibitions, meetings, seminars and ceremonies;

  • Develop feedback mechanisms to evaluate the efficacy of the communications function; capture, analyze and prepare customer feedback reports;

  • Develop effective corporate social responsibility programs;

  • Ensure customer enquiries and complaints are handled as per Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ)/Ombudsman guidelines; prepare and submit CAJ reports;

  • Undertake Customer Satisfaction Surveys;

  • Prepare and monitor implementation of communication/PR budgets; and

  • Supervise, mentor and coach departmental staff.

    Qualification

  • At least ten (10) years’ relevant work experience in Public Service or Private sector, five (5) of which must be in a senior position;

  • Bachelors degree in Journalism, mass communication, public relations or its equivalent from a recognized institution;

  • Masters degree in Journalism or mass communication, public relations or its equivalent from a recognized institution;

  • Be a member
    of a relevant professional body.

  • Meet the requirement of Chapter Six of Constitution of Kenya;

  • Proficiency in computer applications and graphic design/desktop publishing;

  • Good knowledge of photography and videography;

  • Excellent communication, writing, editing, proofreading and presentation skills;

  • Good network and experience with the media and PR firms;

  • Adequate financial management and presentation skills;

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and flexibly, as well as part of a team;

  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage time, determine priorities and meet deadlines;

  • Have a good track record in achieving results; and

  • Strong leadership skills including effective interpersonal communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
