Job Description

  • The Director is responsible for designing and implementing resource mobilization, partnership and linkages strategy, in line with established policies and practices intended to grow, maintain and diversify NETFUND funding portfolio.

    Responsibilities

  • Initiating development policies, procedures, regulations, guidelines and strategies for resource mobilization and partnerships;

  • Advising Management on all resource mobilization, partnership, business development income generation issues;

  • Overseeing the implementation and reviewing of resource mobilization and Business Development and marketing policies, strategies and programmes;

  • Overseeing the development and implementation of strategies and work planning for resource mobilization and Business Development and partnership creation;

  • Coordinating implementation of innovative fund raising and identifying new opportunities;

  • Initiating and fostering partnership and dialogue with national and international development partners, Government of Kenya, Counties and business institutions;

  • Overseeing coordination, planning, development, and management of a public and private sector fundraising strategy to mobilize resources;

  • Assessing opportunities for resource mobilization and identifying and mapping current and potential donors;

  • Coordinating mobilization of resources for NETFUND;

  • Coordinating the review of donors and strategic partnerships agreements;

  • Developing systems and procedures to monitor collection of funds from business development;

  • Supporting the CEO in achieving the overall objectives of NETFUND;

  • Advising CEO on potential opportunities for fund raising and partnership developments;

  • Overseeing effective marketing and creation of awareness of NETFUND programs and services;

  • Preparing the CEO agenda for the Board of Trustees deliberations on Resource Mobilization and Business Development;

  • Overseeing effective utilization of resources in the Directorate;

  • Overseeing compliance with stakeholder requirements;

  • Approving Directorate work plans and budget;

  • Ensuring performance appraisals for the Directorate staff; and

  • Management, mentoring and coaching staff.

    Qualifications

  • At least Twelve (12) years’ work experience in Resource Mobilization and partnership development in public service or private sector, five (5) of which must be in a Senior management position;

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Development, Development Studies, International Relations, Environment studies or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;

  • Master’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Development, Development Studies, International Relations, Environment studies or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;

  • Be a member of good standing from a
    relevant professional body where applicable;

  • Demonstrable/proven knowledge in fundraising trends from environment sector, national, regional and international levels

  • Strong communication and presentation skills including ability to develop proposals, concept papers as well as write Board paper;

  • Good interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including ability to build collaborative relationship;

  • Strong expertise in resource mobilization and management, project planning and monitoring and evaluation;

  • Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheets, accounting packages, email, internet and the workflow process;

  • Ability to empower staff working under him/her by removing obstacles hindering the achievement of strategic objectives, focusing on results and delivering what is promised, on time and within budget;

  • Ability to maintain high standards of integrity; establish straightforward, productive relationships; treating individuals with fairness and respect.

  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of Constitution of Kenya.
