NEMA Senior Principal Environmental Compliance Officer Jobs in Kenya

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties and Responsibilities at this level will include but not limited to:

Ensuring compliance with EMCA 1999 and its regulations to safeguard the environment;

Developing and coordinating licensing programmes country wide;

Coordinating preparation of progress reports for the division;

Monitoring licensing activities;

Reviewing of the draft license conditions;

Drafting regulations in consultation with legal and other departments;

Coordinating licensing under different licensing regimes;

Developing sector specific guidelines;

Developing sector specific license conditions;

Developing annual work plans, budget, and performance targets for the division;

Coordinating development of work plans and schedules for compliance division;

Supervising, coaching and appraising staff in the Compliance division.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields; Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Natural Science, Community Development or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.

Master’s degree in any of the following fields; Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering,

Environmental Engineering, Natural Science, Community Development, Project Management or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.

Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.

A minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in a management role in the Public Service or Private Sector.

Proficiency in Computer Applications.

Good communications skills.

Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
