Job Purpose

To assist the Executive Head

  • Supervisory Affairs & Strategic Reporting with the coordination; facilitation and management of the Compliance function for the Division through monitoring; reporting and developing networks; providing advice to minimise regulatory; reputational and compliance risk and endeavour to avert potential litigations/ penalties and ultimately increase shareholder value for the bank.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Head: Supervisory Affairs & Strategic Reporting to set annual budget for Business Unit/Cluster compliance function.

  • Assist managers within the Business Unit to monitor risks related to compliance by providing guidance or offering expert advice to compliance officers.

  • Assist business units by providing guidance or expert advice on regulatory matters and legislative requirements including the Banks Act.

  • Ensure transformational targets are met.

  • Contribute to a culture of transformation by participating in Nedbank culture building initiatives, business strategy, and CSI.

  • Participate in developing, implementing and addressing issues raised in culture surveys to improve results.

  • Manage performance of staff by implementing performance agreements and ensuring a clear vision.

  • Mentor and coach staff on identified performance gaps.

  • Motivate staff to perform and contribute to the success of the business by
    creating environment of teamwork through engaging with staff (sharing information) and encouraging participation in decision making processes.

    Essential Qualifications

  • NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

  • LLB

    Preferred Qualification

  • LLB

    Preferred Certifications

  • Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA) - preferred, not essential

    Type of Exposure

  • Developing ways to assist the management and/or mitigation of risks check

  • Managing conflict situations

  • Influencing stakeholders to obtain buy-in for concepts and ideas

  • Comparing two or more sets of information Working with a group to identify alternative solutions to a problem

  • Consolidating data from various sources and identify/interpret trends

  • Identifying and interpreting regulatory risk trends

  • Analysing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data

    Minimum Experience Level

  • 5 years Compliance or legal experience of which 2 years at Management level.
