Job Purpose Statement

The Product Management role is a market-facing function responsible for product vision, product strategy, and product design of Digital Business products across all Digital Business markets. The role will ensure the delivery and monetization of the products based on agreed ROI.

The role will oversee every element of the product from its conceptualization to its launch and post-launch performance. The role is broadly responsible for building great products that add sustainable value in terms of revenue and profits for the business.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Product Strategy

  • Develop Product vision(s) across the businesses that the digital business operates across all markets. This will ensure the question of “why we are doing this?” is answered.

  • Develop Product strategies across the businesses that the digital business operates across all markets. This will involve defining how the product team will turn the product vision(s) into reality.

  • Create and manage processes that will drive toward a scalable product portfolio that will drive the business’s product profitability.

  • Lead the definition of business models that describe how the products will create, deliver, and capture value.

  • As the Innovation steward, define an innovation strategy relevant for core innovations, adjacent innovations, and disruptive innovations.

  • Define the right key performance indicators for each product and track them to ensure that the product meets business goals, and that the product is meeting its strategy.

  • Continuously review product strategies considering the competition, product performance, trends, and catapult the digital business’ goals and capabilities.

    Product Management

  • Ensure continuous improvement of the product portfolio and the product portfolio compliance to market needs.

  • Ensure that product experiences are improved continuously and consistently to delights the consumers.

  • Play a leading role in evaluating market trends and competition strategies to develop recommendations on product pricing and positioning.

  • Responsible for creating long-term business methodologies and procedures for conceptualization, prototyping, and product development across the entire product management department.

  • Assure effective governance of the unit’s practices in line with the Group policies and service standards.

  • Uphold operational excellence to meet the Audit and Enterprise risk framework of the Group.

    Product Growth Management

  • Develop monetisation strategies for delivery of product strategy, ensuring that customer value and profit are optimized.

    People

  • Ensure that key roles in the Product team are being executed in the most efficient way possible, leading to the overall efficiency of the team and meeting product and business goals.

  • Mentor for key product management personnel, constantly ensuring improvement in their professional skills and offering assistance in their duties upon request.

    Ideal Job Specifications

    Academic and Professional Certifications:

  • University Degree. MBA or a Master’s degree in a business field is desirable.

  • Product and Ecosystem Design, Marketing and Service oriented certifications desirable.

    Experience

  • At least 10 years’ work experience, 5 of which should have been in a senior management capacity in a similar sized organisation having lead successful business and product development projects and/or initiatives.

  • Can use an extremely broad range of influencing approaches, tactics and styles in order to engage effectively with the stakeholder landscape, whilst recognising the cultural context.

  • Naturally inquisitive and successful in researching key issues. Can reflect on what
    needs to happen next, what might get in the way, and therefore what needs to be put in place to ensure progress. Is aware of what constitutes best practice in the commercial and Fintech sector and strives to deliver this.

  • Creates a commercial and customer-oriented team framework that ensures that tasks are performed by staff members with appropriate capacity and authority level (based on knowledge, skills and competence).

  • Effective in establishing appropriate goals and objectives and can ensure that they are delivered on time and within budget.

    Product Management

  • Inculcates a culture of product management excellence – product leadership, accountability, high-performance teams, customer and market focus, robust solutions, alignment, discipline, speed and quality.

  • Implements incentives and metrics to support such agility.

  • Excellent at understanding and managing the business impact across a wide range of product domains. Capable of making key pricing & packaging recommendations.

  • Assess the organisation’s vision, goals, objectives, and strategies to identify the desired future. Can analyse the existing organisational structure, policies, politics, problems, opportunities, technology, etc., to build a compelling business case for change.

  • Anticipates internal and or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues and leads process, product, or service improvements.

  • Safeguards ROI of an organisation by ensuring the right investments are being made in at the right time for the right reasons.

  • Understands financial concepts and terms, can use them to describe events and can incorporate the same in problem solving and decision making.

  • Visible leader across teams. Establishes compelling team purpose that is aligned to the overall organizational vision. Inspires broader team to achieve results.

  • Identifies disconnects to vision and takes appropriate action.

  • Continuously builds and strengthens networks for the institution within all spheres of the economy within the region, at all levels of commerce, government, society, etc.

  • Is a successful relationship builder who "networks" for "networking sake" where there is not always an immediate outcome in sight. This serves as a key element of their role in managing and utilising strategic alliances and partnerships
