Job Purpose Statement

The Head of Planning and architecture is a key participant in shaping the Digital Business
technology strategy, commercial strategy, and implementation and technology operation. He/She will lead the architecting, design, development, implementation, and second line operations of Loop DFS Information Technology.

The head of Planning and Architecture should have in-depth knowledge of the current and upand-coming trends in the Information Technology field, and use this knowledge to provide solutions to business challenges in Digital Business. He/she should operate the information technology systems to achieve the agreed KPIs in availability, performance, and continuous improvement.

The role is responsible for information strategy in over seven markets/counties, with a mandate
to expand to additional markets in Africa as per the Board Approved expansion plan. This role will have the planning and operations functions of the core applications used by Digital Business.

Key Result Areas

Financial

Participate in creating and implementing the Loop DFS budget plans

Acquisition of Digital Business core platforms and

Procure and manage Quality assurance and automated testing

Internal Business Processes

Design, implement, and deploy all Digital Business technology platforms

Operate all Loop DFS applications platforms within the agreed service levels

Manage the release of all software changes into
production.

Implement efficient business analysis practices to manage the strategic projects scope, user requirements and functional analysis and traceability across the information technology systems life cycle.

Develop an enterprise Architecture that meets the long term objectives of Digital Business.

Develop an agile approach to deliver and operate
Digital Business user engagement technologies in core platforms

Ensure high quality information technology products via rigorous and comprehensive testing

Lead the faulting and incident management of all Digital Business core applications information
Technology services delivered.

Automate the various test scenarios to enhance the speed and quality of testing across Digital Business technology assets

Strategy and Innovation

Develop an application design that delivers the longterm business and technology objectives

Create product roadmaps that allow Loop DFS to
deliver current and future business objectives

Monitor changes in the technology sector to discover ways the Digital Business can adapt, improve and develop

Develop various availability and performance metrics to manage Digital Business services riding on Information Technology assets

Lead in patching and updating of applications and Operating systems under his/her docket

Learning and growth

Ensure that all current technologies are continuously evaluated to keep the knowledge intact and update where necessary

Lead a team, and design and maintain a functional structure that is best suited and adaptive to the commercial strategy

Define and implement recruitment, learning and
performance management strategies, as well as
cultural practices that attract, nurture and retain the best talent.

Drive competency focus through continuous learning and job enrichment to ensure high performance.

Ideal Job Specifications

Academic:

University degree, in Computer Science or technical field.

MBA or a Master’s degree in a technology field preferred.

Professional:

IT management certifications are desirable: ITIL, COBIT, TOGAF, PRINCE2, ISO, Cloud technology.

Desired work experience:

At least 10 years’ experience in Information Technology management, 3 of which should have been in a senior management capacity in a similar sized organisation having lead successful IT transformation projects and/or initiatives.
