NCBA Group Head, Market Development Jobs in Kenya; LOOP DFS is anchored on a platform strategy aiming to scale across Africa and connect consumers and merchants via mobile‑based payments and financial services.

The Head of Market Development drives LOOP’s strategic growth through market identification, planning, and execution of expansion initiatives, reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer.

The role leads a Market Launch Team, aligns regulatory readiness, develops localization strategies, and builds partnerships to enable rapid and sustainable growth.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Strategy & Financial – 30%

  • Drive revenue growth via new markets and streams.

  • Ensure sustainable growth with positive margins.

  • Lead geographic and product expansion, identifying B2C, B2B, and PaaS opportunities.

  • Lead cross‑functional teams for market readiness and execution.

  • Ensure ROI using balanced short‑ and long‑term metrics.

  • Grow market share using competitive insights and customer data.

  • Build relationships with regulators and stakeholders for compliant entry.

  • Develop partnerships with banks, telcos, and platforms.

  • Support API strategy and partner onboarding under PaaS models.

  • Manage budgets, track spend vs. ROI, and align resources.

    Internal Business Processes – 30%
  • Standardize expansion frameworks and operating models.

  • Streamline processes for scalability and efficiency.

  • Implement risk management frameworks.

  • Align cross‑functional teams to deliver growth objectives.

  • Track KPIs like acquisition, revenue, and market share.

  • Maintain dashboards and document expansion progress.

  • Build playbooks, capture lessons, and promote learning.

    Customer – 20%
  • Understand customer needs across segments using research.

  • Localize offerings and validate MVP success metrics.

  • Drive activation and early usage strategies.

  • Improve offerings using feedback.

  • Use data insights to guide strategy.

  • Build partnerships for growth and innovation.

    Learning & Growth – 20%
  • Stay updated on trends
    and best practices.

  • Train, mentor, and grow team capabilities.

  • Encourage creativity and experimentation.

  • Use data insights for strategy and improvement.

    Job Specifications

    Desired Personal Attribute
  • Relentless in pursuit of growth and disruption in fintech.

    Academic
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business‑related field.

  • MBA or Master’s Degree desirable.

    Work Experience
  • 10+ years in fintech, DFS, or digital platforms.

  • 5+ years in expansion, business development, or GTM leadership across African markets.

  • Proven track record launching B2C, B2B, or PaaS platforms in emerging markets.

  • Experience with payments acquiring, mobile money, credit, or savings platforms advantageous.

  • Exposure to API‑driven ecosystems or PaaS business models.

  • Strong cross‑functional leadership and mobilization skills.

  • Commercial acumen and partnership negotiation skills.

  • Deep understanding of African regulatory environments.

  • Strong market analysis and go‑to‑market execution capability.

  • Effective communication with executives, regulators, and partners.
