Job Purpose Statement

The Investment Advisor role is responsible for offering sound strategic, medium term and day to day investment advice to retail investors in the securities market. Monitoring, analysing and continuously improving the brokerage business by conducting client/market research and analysing economic, capital market and industry trends to make investment recommendations to retail investors.

The holder will is tasked with managing a portfolio of clients by acquisition and retention and maintain a well segmented structure to ensure efficiency and optimal client engagement and support to develop a robust trading and investment culture.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Financial

  • Proactively generate new business opportunities with target focus on HNW and UHNW clients

  • Develop and enhance the business processes and
    activities which will ensure generation of lead
    pipeline for new business and existing clients.

  • Perform proper after-trade follow-up actions to ensure optimum application of client funds across NCBA Investment Bank and NCBA Group basket of investment options.

  • Conduct regular review of client’s portfolios,
    highlighting any relevant information such as
    corporate actions and dividend pay-outs.

  • Train and guide NCBA bank branch champions to
    deliver client service and revenue targets.

  • Promote and proactively support and on-board
    existing clients to use digital trading platforms and online account opening/maintenance platforms.

  • Conduct risk profile analysis and develop
    investment portfolio objectives and proposals for
    existing and new High Net Worth customers.

  • Develop innovative strategies for retaining clients; this includes undertaking client visits and interviews in order to build rapport and get feedback and incorporate it into the growth plan.

  • Conduct client visits and corporate client forums to conduct talks and presentations to grow existing client base.

    Internal business processes

  • maintain clear client segmentation and customize the service that premium client segments will receive

  • Identify and develop NCBA unique selling
    propositions and differentiators using knowledge of the market and competitor trends

  • Conduct client trainings and capacity building
    meetings as or when required

  • Give unbiased information about market
    conditions and financial information to clients by displaying a good knowledge of the financial market’s

  • Ensure effective utilization of all resources in the Brokerage

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls.

  • Ensure that customer Service standards are
    complied with and meet at all times.

  • Proactively monitor the trade execution of
    retail vs Institutional and prepare weekly reports
    on the same.

    Customer

  • Maintain portfolio based client communication and alerts to leverage on the NCBA group digital
    offering and other communication channels as a
    means to developing effective customer relationships with clients in order to get them
    affiliated with the company.

  • Mine the NCBA Bank Premier customer database
    and target those client for a one stop shop.
    Targeted and customized marketing towards this
    client segment that are already HNW of the Bank.

  • Actively manage client expectations to ensure that clients are getting an overall positive experience.

    Learning and growth

  • Create a yearly learning calendar based on learning needs related to the role.

  • Consistently attend courses on NCBA Learning
    portal.

  • Identify a suitable Mentor and Coach to help guide career growth path.

    Job Specifications

    Academic:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or other business related discipline

    Professional:

  • CISI Level II or III/CMA Exemption Certificate

  • ATS certification (desirable)

  • ICIFA associate or full membership.

    Desired work experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the capital markets or financial services industry.

  • Successful track record in Business Development

  • Deep knowledge of the Financial Markets
