The Role

The Research Centre Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the Research Centre's daily operations. You will act as the Centre's leader. You will coordinate operations, supervise support staff based at the Research Centre, manage logistics, handle guests, and enforce Health and Safety Protocols to ensure the Research Centre functions efficiently at all times.

We are looking for a versatile candidate with excellent communication and organisational skills who has worked in the hospitality industry and is passionate about delivering outstanding service.

Duties and Responsibilities

Camp Management

  • Supervise the Research Centre subordinate staff to ensure they perform their duties properly and professionally. Ensure the Centre is maintained at high standards at all times.

  • Ensure the Centre adheres to the Health and Safety requirements. Coordinate training for staff on Occupation, Safety and Health and implement any recommendations from the training.

  • Ensure support staff are provided with protective gear and shoes at all times.

  • Manage utilities at the Centre: Electric and Solar power, Internet, Water availability, etc.

  • Manage the Centre vehicles to ensure they are in good condition at all times; Insurances are up to date, Vehicle logs are properly completed, servicing is done by due dates, repairs are handled as soon as identified, etc. Liaise with Operations on vehicle issues identified for prompt resolution.

  • Ensure repairs and maintenance of the property, furniture, fixtures, equipment, generators & other equipment are being maintained.

  • Coordinate food procurement and other store items and manage stock levels to ensure a constant supply.

  • Ensure month-end stock takes are done and submitted to Finance in accordance with financial management requirements and timelines.

  • Ensure stores are clean, organised and aesthetically pleasing.

    Guest Management

  • Manage the Visitors' Calendar. Keep track of guest check-ins and check-outs.

  • Facilitate airport transfers for international guests in liaison with operations.

  • Ensure the rooms are clean
    and in good condition at all times.

  • Planning and hosting high-net-worth donors as well as small-scale events.

  • Ensure guests are comfortable and receive the highest standards of service.

  • Ensure that proper medical attention is given to guests who may fall ill while staying at the Centre.

  • Ensure safety procedures are in place for guests in the property and when participating in activities and game drives.

  • Manage guests' dietary needs by sharing sample menus with guests before arrival. Ensure meals are balanced and the quality of the food is great.

  • Resolve guest complaints immediately after they are raised.

  • Maintain a positive relationship with the communities and neighbours.

  • Any other official duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education Background:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any relevant course.

    Desired Experience

  • Three years of relevant work experience in hosting high-net-worth donors

  • Experience in handling basic electrical and plumbing needs is an added advantage.

    Person Profile: -

  • Kenyan citizen or right to work in Kenya.

  • Organise and coordinate operations to ensure maximum efficiency.

  • Do not mind living and working in a remote setting.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with diverse audiences and sensitivity to different cultures and worldviews.

  • Passion for environmental conservation.

  • Written and verbal communication skills.

  • Driving skills.
