National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL) Assistant Director Internal Auditor Jobs in Kenya
Job Summary
Provide strategic leadership in internal audit, risk management and internal control systems to ensure effective governance, compliance, accountability and operational efficiency within the organization.
Coordinate audit activities, evaluate risk management frameworks and provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of internal controls and management processes.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the development, implementation and review of internal audit systems, procedures, guidelines and strategic audit frameworks.
Guide the preparation of audit programmes to ensure audits are adequately planned and professionally managed.
Provide guidance in assessing the effectiveness of risk mitigation plans.
Coordinate reviews of internal control systems to identify and mitigate risks.
Coordinate and oversee the audit activity diary and audit schedules.
Facilitate the execution of audits and investigations.
Support departments in designing and implementing effective control measures.
Review the accuracy and correctness of accounting information and records maintained by the organization.
Guide the planning and execution of information security audits.
Inspect and evaluate financial systems, information systems, management procedures and security controls.
Investigate and assess risks associated with projects, operations and accounts.
Ensure operational systems comply with corporate security policies and government regulations.
Assess exposure resulting from ineffective or missing controls.
Interpret audit findings and provide recommendations for improvement.
Provide independent assurance on the design and effectiveness of risk management processes.
Establish mechanisms for follow-up on recommendations from internal and external audits.
Evaluate implementation progress and effectiveness of corrective actions.
Coordinate preparation and submission of audit reports to management for implementation of audit recommendations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option), Business Management (Accounting or Finance Option), Economics or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
(Finance and Accounting Option) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Passed Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or an equivalent qualification.
Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Membership with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Internal Audit Quality Assessor.
Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Experience
Minimum cumulative service period of twelve (12) years of relevant work experience.
At least three (3) years of experience at the level of Principal Internal Auditor or in a comparable position.
