Duties and ResponsibilitiesStrategy/ Policy Responsibilities Leading the development and implementation of an internal risk based audit strategy and annual plan for the Commission;
Spearhead the overall effort to implement an enterprise risk management program;
Overseeing the development of annual audit plan and risk assessment;
Initiating the preparation of work programmes to ensure that audits are planned and well managed;
Spear heading the review of internal controls and ensuring their documentation for effectiveness and adequacy;
Overseeing the development of a comprehensive programme of engagement coverage for assigned areas
Managerial Responsibilities
Directing implementation and compliance of internal controls and identify and correct any deficiencies;
Guiding the identification of risks in special projects;
Overseeing the preparation of the Internal Audit systems, procedures and guidelines;
supervising the preparation of work programmes to ensure that audits are planned and well managed;
Overseeing the preparation and submission of audit reports to the CEO/CS;
Supervising, training and developing staff within the unit;
Coordinate the preparation of specific audit assignment plans and programmes;
Overseeing the development of risk based audit plans, programmes and schedules;
Coordinate the conduction of preliminary reviews of the areas to be audited;
Requirement for Appointment
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or
their equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or their equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
Be in possession of any of the following: - CPA (K), CISA, CFA, ACCA or its equivalent and either.
Be a member of a professional body – Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (ICPAK) and or Institute of Internal Auditors of Kenya (IIA-Kenya).
Have a certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and
Ten (10) years of service, of which three (3) should be in a comparable position from a reputable organization; and
Meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya
