National Legal Aid Service Legal Aid Officer I Jobs in Kenya


Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years cumulative work experience at the grade of Legal Aid Officer II or comparable position.

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

  • Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate or clearance from the Law Society of Kenya.

  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of court pleadings in relevant courts/tribunals.

  • Conduct and analyse research data and compile reports.

  • Provide legal advice to clients and the public.

  • Prepare legal opinions and pleadings.

  • Represent clients in relevant courts/tribunals.

  • Prepare and file pleadings in arbitration proceedings.

  • Provide legal services in litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

  • Attend court for prosecution/defense of NLAS cases.

  • Undertake pre‑trial briefings, collate evidence and witness statements.

  • Update and manage the court case management system.
