National Housing and Construction Company Head-Technical Operations, Design & Innovations Jobs in Uganda


Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for ensuring efficient project development and construction of high quality, competitive and profitable residential, industrial and commercial business, as well as other products, in line with the Company’s strategic objectives.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the Development of the departmental Strategies, work plans and budgets and ensure successful implementation.

  • Lead continuous, coordinated, efficient and profitable conceptualization, design and development of new products and projects for the Company.

  • Ensure that all new projects are well researched and exhaustive consultation and involvement of all relevant stakeholders is carried out in order to ensure quality products and their profitable sale.

  • Prepares design guidelines and concept papers including aesthetic concepts and coordinate other design team members and draft persons for the preparation of detailed drawings.

  • Lead the coordination of the Company’s construction supervision activities and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within approved cost and quality standards. This includes ensuring that all the Company’s Contractors and projects, including those implemented with its partners, are efficiently and profitably managed.

  • In liaison with Chief Operations Officer and Chief Finance Officer, facilitate finance department on attraction, partnership and support of suitable Financial Institutions/Funders/Investors to favorably provide the necessary financing to NHCCL’s construction business.

  • Support Management in handling all other matters relating to safety, operation and maintenance of both Company landed and asset properties.

  • Manage and develop departmental staff professionally as part of performance management practice.

  • Perform any other duties as may, from time to time, be assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.

    Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, or a closely related and relevant discipline from a recognized University. An advanced degree shall be an added advantage.

  • Full and valid membership of a nationally, or internationally recognized professional Architects body, with a valid practicing certificate is a MUST.

  • Specialized training, with appropriate qualifications
    in Project Planning and Management, from a recognized institution, is a MUST.

  • Additional qualifications in Business Management, from a recognized institution, are desirable.

  • Relevant working experience of 7 years (three of which should have been at Senior Manager level) as an Architect, or in a similar senior position, in a large and reputable Construction, or Civil Works Company, or reputable Consultancy firm, or on any other large civil works project in public or Private Sector organization.

  • Proven knowledge and skills in application of Architectural design-related Software such as AutoCAD, ArchCAD, Revit, 3D & Animation are a MUST.

  • Experience in working with public, or private sector organizations involved in housing-related projects, or programs, shall be an added advantage.
