National Housing and Construction Company Clerk of Works Jobs in Uganda


Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for ensuring that works are professionally done according to the specifications, and in a cost effective manner.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and inspect civil works at project sites to ensure proper workmanship and adherence to specifications and designs.

  • Ensure that correct mixing ratios, work methods and specifications are adhered to.

  • Checking materials to ascertain quality and quantity.

  • Coordinating with the architect to ensure adherence to designs at all times and assisting whenever necessary.

  • Update the project site diary on labor, weather, materials, and hours of work on a daily basis.

  • Verifying through joint measurements and recommending contractors claims for payments.

  • Using information on site diary or submit monthly reports to the respective senior engineer and architect.

  • Perform any other duties as may, be assigned from time to time, by relevant authority.

    Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • An advanced/Higher Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering or a closely related and relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institution

  • Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management or a closely related field shall be an added advantage.

  • Knowledge and skills in application of Engineering-related Software, as well as proficiency in application of MS Office Package (Word & Excel,) and related packages is essential.

  • Relevant working experience of four (4) years, as a Clerk of Works or in a similar position in a large and reputable Construction or
    Civil Works Company or a reputable public or private sector organization.

  • Experience in working with public, or private sector organizations involved in housing-related projects, or programs, shall also be an added advantage.

    Relevant Competencies:

  • High level of ethics, integrity & Credibility

  • Analytical, problem solving, negotiation skills.

  • Good presentation, communication and reporting skills.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Ability to work for long hours with high level of flexibility
