National Council of Churches of Legal Officer Jobs

NCCK, an umbrella organization for Protestant Churches and Christian Organizations registered in Kenya, invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position: Legal Officer. To provide and facilitate legal, technical, institutional and related services to the Council.


Responsibilities


  • Offer legal and technical counsel to the Council.
  • Draw, peruse, complete and interpret legal documents on behalf of the Council.
  • Draw and accept court processes affecting the Council and take action as necessary.
  • Liaise with Council’s external lawyers in legal matters affecting the Council.
  • Manage the civil and criminal cases where the Council is a party.
  • Service, organize and facilitate constitutional and governance meetings of the Council.
  • Prepare notices, agenda and minutes for statutory and governance meetings.
  • Keep membership records and facilitate processing of new applications for membership
    Manage insurance of Council’s property and staff.
  • Manage and Administer Council’s general and life insurance policies.
  • Provide Corporate and Legal Services to the Council’s subsidiaries, affiliates and corporate members.
  • Keep track of new legislation and advise the Council accordingly.
    Maintain a register of all contracts where the Council is a party.
  • File annual returns of the Council and her subsidiaries in accordance with the laws of Kenya
  • Submit a quarterly report detailing the Council’s legal risks and management strategy for
    the same.
  • Take up any other relevant assignment as may be directed by the General Secretary from time to time.


    Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
  • Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position especially within a Non-Governmental Organization set-up
  • A current Advocate’s Practicing Certificate
