National Commission for Science - Technology and Innovation Chief Analyst - Earth and Space Sciences Jobs in Kenya

Reporting to the Director Scheduled Sciences, the Chief Analyst will undertake the following
duties and responsibilities:

Develop draft policy briefs for advisory and priority setting within Earth and Space
Sciences;

Implement programs for the promotion and awareness creation on the research system within Earth and Space Sciences;

Propose priority programs for the development of Earth and Space Sciences;

Provide input into the review of applications for registration of research institutions and
licensing of research projects in Earth and Space Sciences;

Provide secretariat to the Advisory Research Committee within Earth and Space Sciences; and,

Prepare position papers in Earth and Space Sciences;

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this position, an applicant must have: -

Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Oceanography and Seismology Meteorology and Climatology, Hydrology, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Cartography or equivalent from a recognized university

Master’s degree in Geology, Oceanography and Seismology Meteorology and Climatology, Hydrology, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Cartography or equivalent from a recognized university

At least

ten (10) years relevant work experience in a public or a private institution

At least three (3) years experience in management

Demonstrate results in work performance

Membership to a relevant professional body where applicable

Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution

Demonstrate the following key competencies and skills:

Proficiency in IT

Communication and reporting skills

Strategic thinking

Analytical skills;

Interpersonal and negotiating skills;

Integrity;

Team player

Mentoring, coaching and leadership skills
