National Bank Senior Manager (Trade & FI) Jobs in Kenya


Position Scope:

  • Responsible for driving business growth (Asset, Liabilities and Customer Numbers), Revenues and Profitability by leading the co-creation of technology led business solutions and products relating to Trade, FI and Investment Banking to ensure that the Bank sustains a strong value proposition for Corporate customers.

  • This has to be done in close cooperation with other Corporate Banking Departments and Sectors, Retail Banking, Treasury and Islamic Banking functions to ensure that the Bank and its customers attain shared value and growth from all available opportunities and connections.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, Develop and Direct Trade, Investment Banking & Financial Institutions Team.

  • Deliver on Trade & FI Annual Business Growth Targets; Revenue, Fees and Commissions, Profit Before Tax, Assets, Liabilities and Customer Numbers.

  • Deliver on development, review and alignment of products and business solutions relating to Trade, Investment Banking, and Financial Institutions.

  • Relationship Management of Key Customers and Stakeholders.

  • Manage Corporate Segment Business Operational Costs within approved budget

  • Customer Service Management: Enquiry/ Complaint response and resolution within set standards.

  • Manage Portfolio at Risk (PAR) for Trade, Investment Banking and Financial Institutions Segment Business within annual business target.

  • Maintain Turnaround time on Credit Applications for Corporate Segment Business.

  • Manage and maintain a robust monitoring, controls, business continuity, governance and risk management environment.

  • Manage and maintain relationships with key/strategic stakeholders in Trade, Investment Banking & Financial Institutions.

  • Provide leadership to the sales team in all work related aspects and ensure smooth flow of communication.

  • Motivate the team and drive projects through to completion resulting in consistently high performance and achievement

  • Set goals and standards for subordinates

  • Evaluate and manage direct subordinates in a fair and consistent manner to achieve high standards of competence, motivation and service orientation

  • Attend to succession planning, in line with the Bank’s policies

    Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
    Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, AKIB) will be an added advantage

  • Post graduate and or Banking qualifications will be an added
    advantage

  • Professional qualification in sales / marketing will be an added advantage.

  • Any other relevant insurance qualification and/or membership from Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) or associate Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) will be an added advantage.

  • 6-8 years’ relevant experience (in well-established organizations) in corporate banking, banking operations, customer service, with at least 4 years’ in head of department to senior management positions relevant to Trade & FI.

  • Track record of attaining targets of business growth and profitability in the financial services and banking sector.

  • Have appreciation and operating knowledge of the banking industry, market, trends as well as challenges.

  • Demonstrable cross-cultural, people and relationship management skills, networking and negotiation skills, team motivation and leadership competence.

  • Sound understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements of corporate governance, business and banking operations.

  • Some knowledge of the Bank’s lending principles, policies and procedures.

  • Prior experience of dealing with customers.

  • High degree of interpersonal skills when dealing with a range of people and situations.

  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Good in planning and personal organization.
