National Bank of Kenya Head Commercial Functions and Branch Network Audits Jobs; To serve as a strategic business partner and member of the Executive Committee, architecting and executing the Bank’s human capital strategy in alignment with corporate strategy, risk appetite, and regulatory obligations. The HR Director ensures talent attraction, development, retention, and deployment while embedding a high‑performance culture, robust risk conduct framework, and operational excellence across all people processes.

Key Responsibilities

Talent & Workforce Strategy

  • Develop and execute a 3–5‑year human capital strategy supporting the Bank’s strategic plan, digital transformation, and business expansion.

  • Lead workforce planning and scenario modelling to ensure optimal talent supply.

  • Oversee talent analytics and people data science for board‑level decision‑making.

    Leadership & Succession

  • Own leadership pipeline and succession architecture for ExCo and Board roles.

  • Design executive assessment, coaching, and development programs.

  • Partner with HR Board & Nomination Committee on succession planning.

    Culture, Conduct & Employee Experience

  • Define and measure organizational culture, values, and EVP.

  • Champion DEI initiatives and inclusive leadership practices.

  • Monitor employee engagement, pulse surveys, and exit analytics.

    Organizational Effectiveness

  • Lead organizational design and change management for strategic initiatives.

  • Drive job architecture, grading, and competency framework maintenance.

  • Oversee change management and internal communications.

    Total Rewards & Compensation

  • Design and govern remuneration philosophy aligned with performance and risk.

  • Oversee compensation frameworks, incentive schemes, and deferred arrangements.

  • Ensure compliance with CBK remuneration guidelines.

    Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding

  • Set talent acquisition strategy including graduate programs and executive search.

  • Govern recruitment SLAs, cost‑per‑hire, and quality‑of‑hire analytics.

  • Ensure rigorous background screening and fit‑and‑proper assessments.

    Learning & Capability Building

  • Oversee the Bank’s learning academy and regulatory competency training.

  • Drive digital upskilling and leadership development.

  • Ensure mandatory training completion rates meet audit
    standards.

    Employee & Industrial Relations

  • Govern industrial relations strategy including union negotiations.

  • Ensure compliance with Kenyan employment legislation.

  • Manage dispute resolution, disciplinary processes, and litigation risk.

    HR Operations & Technology

  • Oversee HR shared services, payroll accuracy, and employee data governance.

  • Lead HR technology roadmap ensuring data integrity and cybersecurity.

  • Ensure operational SLAs for HR service delivery.

    Regulatory, Risk & Compliance

  • Sponsor risk culture and conduct framework.

  • Integrate conduct metrics into performance and promotion criteria.

  • Ensure HR policies comply with CBK guidelines and employment statutes.

  • Oversee whistleblower protection and anti‑retaliation policies.

  • Ensure HR functions are subject to robust internal controls and audits.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Master’s Degree in HR Management, MBA, or General Management.

  • Higher National Diploma or relevant HR certification.

  • CHRP or equivalent.

  • Certified Executive Coach, Mediator, or Labour Relations certification (advantageous).

  • Minimum 10 years’ HR experience, 5 in leadership roles.
