Narok County Assistant Director of Livestock Production Jobs in Kenya

Duties and Responsibilities
  • An Officer at this level will be deployed at the Headquarters and will be in charge
    of a section at the Headquarter or be a Subject Matter Specialist at the County.
  • At the County the specific activities will include;
  • Interpretation and implementation of government policies, Provision of technical
    advice to County subject matter specialists and stakeholders, coordination and
    promotion of livestock extension services – such as clean milk production, animal
    breeding, livestock feeding and nutrition;
  • Liaison with regional research centres
    operating within the area of jurisdiction;
  • Participation in district development for a
    such as District Development Committees; Budgeting and management of resources allocated to the County.
  • At the Headquarters the Officer will be in charge of a section. The specific duties
    will include: planning and budgeting, provision of guidance and supervision of
    staff under him/her, preparation of regular progress reports, and participation in
    policy development.

    Requirement for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

  • Served in the grade of Principal Livestock Production Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service foe a minimum
    period of three (3) years;
  • Masters of Science degree in any of the following disciplines:- Animal
    Science /Animal Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Food Science and
    Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Range Management/ Natural Resources Management, Livestock/Agriculture Economics and
    Diary Technology, Agricultural Extension or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  • Shown merit in their field of specialization and demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and management ability.
