Driver
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to perform the following roles among others: -

  • Drive the ambulance in all types of emergency situations.
  • Carrying at all times, a valid driver’s license as prescribed.
  • Respecting all road users, observing road safety and traffic rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring that the Hospital vehicle being driven is mechanically viable and safe.
  • Ensuring proper hand over recording during driver change over.
  • Carefully examining the vehicle to be driven and ensuring timely reporting of all maintenance issues to the Support Services Officer.
  • Thereafter, fill in the vehicle check list and hand it over to the Support Services Officer.
  • Ensuring maintenance of the vehicles’ cleanliness.
  • Ensuring that all incidents affecting the vehicles are reported in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that the vehicles licenses are valid and availed as per the national traffic regulations requirement.
  • Ensuring that any journey(s) undertaken by the vehicle are logged, authorized and official.
  • Ensuring that all staff within the vehicle are authorized persons.
  • Maintenance and care for the vehicle by checking its fuel, engine oil, water, tyre pressure, clutch, brakes, and steering fluids ATF, lights, side mirrors, life savers, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, indicators, tool box, gauges and jumpers.
  • Minimizing the vehicle running costs by exercising economical driving.
  • Providing services to the required standards.
  • Carrying required capacity
  • Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • A minimum C- in KCSE.
  • Knowledge of First Aid and Basic Life Support from a reputable institution.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicles.
  • Minimum 3 years proven accident free driving.
  • Clean and valid driver’s license class BCEFG.
  • Computer proficiency
  • Solid experience in defensive and offensive driving.
  • Well trained in traffic safety and highway codes.
  • Well conversant with Nairobi streets, avenues and residences.
  • Ability to communicate fluently, written and spoken, both English and Swahili.
