Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibility

  • The Senior Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial transaction recording, reconciliation of accounts and follow up of daily sales and payments.

  • This position will also be responsible in maintaining and adhering accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely tax payments and preparing of interim financial statements.

    Basic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all financial transactions are fully supported, accurately coded and that they are all captured in system on timely basis.

  • Ensure that supporting documentation is properly filed for referencing.

  • Preparing monthly government tax for effecting timely payments.

  • Supervise and monitor of actual expense against approved budget and report to FM.

  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements.

  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial reports including financial analysis.

  • Check monthly financial reports and through undertaking control and sensibility checks follow-up on unexplained variances against normal or expected expenditure

  • Facilitate and provide confirmation for both internal and external audit

  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.

  • Carry out checking & verifying payment requests before and after posting.

  • Follow up timely credit collection and report outstanding balances.

  • Check and ensure the correctness of sales and follow up timely deposit.

  • Ensure the accuracy of stock records and maintain monthly physical count to check physical balance.

  • Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank reconciliation and bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Check and clear abnormal balances of the general ledger.

  • Implement internal working procedures on cash, creditor and debtor management;

  • Maintain accrual and prepayment accounts in accordance with MCE policies;

  • Performs any other duties and tasks assigned by immediate supervisor, which are commensurate with the responsibilities and level of the post

  • Performs other related duties as required.

    Job Requirements

  • BA degree in Finance or Accounting.

  • At least five years of experience working as a Senior accountant.

  • Abel to operate on Peachtree.

  • Fluency in English speaking and writing.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, start-up environment, with an emphasis on high-performance, teamwork, accountability and results.

  • Results orientation; excellent adaptive problem-solver; Strong set of personal values including integrity, honesty and desire to be of service.
