Multi Community Based Development Initiative IT and Database Manager Jobs in Uganda


Overall Purpose

  • Reporting to the Director Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, the IT and
    Database Manager will be responsible for the provision of advanced technical support for
    MUCOBADI’s information systems and network, and to advice users and managers on IT and database issues.

    KEY Responsibilities

  • Provide an efficient high quality IT support service to the users of the Organizations PC’s and computer systems.

  • Provide telephone and on-site support to IT Users within MUCOBADI and provide off-site support

  • Liaise with technical support agencies and external suppliers (hardware and software) as appropriate, to report problems that could not be resolved locally, and implement recommended solutions.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of backups, maintenance tasks and procedures carried out on MUCOBAD’s IT systems.

  • Assist with the development of the IT infrastructure including the installation of standard computer equipment and distribution of equipment within MUCOBADI.

  • Actively participate in the implementation of the Organization’s IT Projects.

    This may involve cross-site and off-site working and will include, but is not restricted to:

  • Configuring PC’s / servers / IT hardware

  • Install network components.

  • Install software on PC’s/servers as instructed.

  • Install, configure, and upgrade database management software and related products

  • Support the maintenance of the Asset Database by updating with details of new hardware installed.

  • Document all work undertaken in carrying out duties.

  • Integrate systems through database design

  • Train and support staff as required.

  • Use initiative to identify all possible opportunities to anticipate, support and streamline the work and responsibilities of the IT section

  • Prioritize all incoming work on a daily basis, including responding quickly and appropriately to urgent/important issues.

  • Follow agreed action plans and outstanding issues which emerge from the staff.

  • Monitor and administer Database management software security

  • Support developers of database design and coding problems and provide guidance to other staff

    Required Specifications

    Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information & Communication Technology (Database Management and Administration) or equivalent

  • Post graduate training in database management and administration is an added advantage

  • At least 5 years’ experience gained in a large organization. Experience of support of a wide range of products and technical infrastructures/technologies is an added advantage

  • Able to work on own initiative.

  • Is self-motivated and able to motivate others in the team.

  • Dependable, can be relied on to carry out work to a consistent standard.

  • Flexible approach to work.

  • Good Interpersonal skills.

  • Is able to train staff in use of IT (within own area of experience) where required (in delivering assistance to end users)
