MSI Natural Resource and Wildlife Anti-Corruption Advisor, USAID/Strengthening Systems and Public Accountability Activity Jobs in Uganda


Position Summary:

  • MSI is seeking a local Natural Resource and Wildlife Anti-Corruption Advisor for the upcoming SSPA activity in Uganda. This person will lead the third objective: Strengthened accountability processes within specific service delivery sectors, in particular natural resource governance in refugee districts and wildlife crime related corruption.

    Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction and oversight to achieve project results related to countering wildlife and natural resource corruption.

  • Work closely with conservation, governance and development practitioners to better understand, identify and address specific corruption problems within the wildlife, natural resources sectors in refugee districts.

  • Develop successful governance, accountability and transparency methods and tools to combat corruption in wildlife and natural resources sectors.

  • Foster partnerships at the international, national, and local levels to promote learning and exchange across governance and environmental sectors.

  • Identify and consolidate a body of expertise, skills, and resources regarding anti-corruption and good governance, for application to natural resource management.

  • Contribute and assist with the preparation of technical reports and deliverables and other reports/deliverables, as requested by the Chief of Party or USAID.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in natural resource management, conservation or a
    related field. Masters degree preferred.

  • At least five (5) years experience working in areas related to anti-corruption, good governance, anti-trafficking or biodiversity conservation, with an emphasis on governance.

  • Substantial technical expertise in anti-corruption reforms in the natural resource sector working with governmental and non-governmental institutions.

  • Experience communicating and building productive relationships within a broad range of government, civil society, academic, and IGO entities, at international, regional, and local levels.

  • Knowledge of and prior experience working on USAID-funded activities strongly preferred.

  • Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communications skills required, with proficiency in Swahili or Luganda preferred.
